Changelog
What's new on DoCalc, in reverse-chronological order. Have a request? Let us know.
August 9, 2026
Added
- Seven more Insurance calculators: Life Insurance Premium (by age, gender, term, and health class), COBRA Cost (the 102% rule), Medicare Supplement (Medigap), Flood Insurance (FEMA Risk Rating 2.0), Long-Term Care Insurance (2025 Genworth cost data), Final Expense Insurance, and Pet Insurance — bringing Insurance & Protection to fifteen live calculators.
- Seven new blog articles covering those calculators: How Much Does Life Insurance Cost, COBRA Insurance Cost Explained, Medicare Supplement: Plan G vs Plan N, Do You Need Flood Insurance, How Much Does Long-Term Care Cost, Final Expense Insurance Coverage, and Pet Insurance Cost Guide — each cross-linked to its calculator and to related articles.
Improved
- Ad targeting simplified from per-page checkboxes to six broad page types (Homepage, Calculator Pages, Utility Tool Pages, Blog Pages, Company Pages, Legal Pages), so an ad can target a whole section at once instead of needing every page ticked individually.
- Fixed a bug where saving two or more new ads in the same "Save all" click could silently drop all but one, caused by parallel save requests overwriting each other; saves are now a single atomic request.
- Redesigned the in-content text ad to a cleaner "Sponsored" card layout — label above the box, headline with an inline arrow icon, no separate button text.
- Added more padding inside calculator and result panels, most noticeable on the Number to Words tool where the icon toolbar previously sat close to the card edges.

Added
- Launched the Insurance & Protection category, now with eight calculators: Life Insurance Needs (DIME method), Auto Insurance, Home Insurance, Health Insurance Subsidy (2026 ACA rules), Term vs Whole Life, Umbrella Insurance, Renters Insurance, and Disability Insurance.
- Six new blog articles: How Much House Can You Afford, 15-Year vs 30-Year Mortgage, Debt Snowball vs Avalanche, How Much Do You Need to Retire, When to Refinance Your Mortgage, and Good Churn Rate for SaaS.
Improved
- Ad slots are now strictly typed — square and the new full-width leaderboard slot are image-only, the in-content sidebar slot is text-only and stacks multiple active ads with dividers instead of showing one at random.
- Ad targeting in the admin panel moved from broad page categories to individual per-page checkboxes, grouped by section.
- Related-calculator links across calculator and blog pages are now regular-weight with a divider line, instead of bold text with no separation.

- An Editorial Policy explaining how we research, build, verify, and correct calculators and articles.

- An Editorial Team page, plus a visible byline and correction contact on every blog article.

- Four new SaaS/startup equity calculators: Cap Table Dilution, SAFE Note Conversion, Vesting Schedule, and ARR per Employee.
Improved
- Rewrote the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service to remove placeholder "template" language and accurately describe what's actually live (Google Analytics, first-party ads, no third-party ad network yet).

- Added a dedicated correction-report email and response-time expectation to the Contact page.

- "Download PDF" on every calculator result — a branded, one-page PDF you can save or share.

Improved
